This. Was. Fun.
When Natasha contacted me to see if I could squeeze in a custom session for her extended family as a surprise Christmas gift for her parents and grandparents, I was a bit intimidated - December weather is notoriously unpredictable and it's tricky managing a large group at the best of times. So I rolled up my sleeves, planned for the ideal situation where we'd get to hang out outdoors, then I planned a backup (and second backup) of potential indoor setups in case it was too cold/windy/blizzard-y for outdoor photos.
We lucked out.
It was a warm and grey day, but about halfway through the session, the snow started to fall. This tiny localized storm only stayed for about 30 minutes, and it made for the perfect accent for family photos.
On top of the perfect winter weather, this family was so easy to work with. When the surprise was first announced, I got hugs from a total of three complete strangers - it was great! And they were all so beautiful and natural (and silly!) in front of the camera - I couldn't have asked for a better family to work with.
